Xtream Codes Setup: How to Add Your IPTV Account

· 5 min read

If your IPTV provider gave you three pieces of information, a server address, a username and a password, you most likely have Xtream Codes details. This guide shows how to enter them in a free Xtream Codes player, Premium Player, and how to fix the most common problems.

Premium Player is only a player; it contains no channels, films or series and sells none. You get your Xtream Codes details from your own IPTV provider.

What are Xtream Codes?

Xtream Codes is a login method used by many IPTV providers. Instead of one link, you receive three things:

  • Server address: in the form http://domain:port.
  • Username
  • Password

With these the player connects to the provider and fetches the channels, films, series and often the TV guide by itself. You do not need to hunt for a separate guide file. The alternative that works with a single link is covered in how to open an M3U playlist.

Where do you find your Xtream Codes details?

They are in the membership email your provider sent or in the provider's customer panel, usually under "Xtream", "Xtream Codes" or "API". Copy the server address with its port number exactly as written. You never need to get these details anywhere but from your provider; Premium Player does not tell you where to find lists.

How to enter Xtream Codes

The steps are the same on every device. First install Premium Player: Android TV and Fire TV, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux, or the online IPTV player with nothing to install. All are on the download page.

  1. When you first open the app, choose Add Xtream Codes. To add one later, go to Settings › Sources.
  2. Enter the server address with its port.
  3. Enter the username and password. Upper and lower case matter.
  4. If your provider gave you a separate XMLTV guide address, add it too; otherwise leave it empty.
  5. Press Save.

The app checks the details with the provider. If they are accepted, you see your account's expiry date and the number of connections; if they are rejected, the reason is shown. Then live TV, the TV guide and the film and series catalogue open. Large lists can take a minute or two to load; you can use the app meanwhile.

Entering Xtream Codes on a TV

Typing a long server address and password with a remote is the most tiresome job on a TV. That is what Add with phone (QR) is for:

  1. On the TV, open Premium Player and choose Add with phone (QR). A QR code and a short code appear on screen.
  2. Scan the QR code with your phone's camera. If you cannot, go to preplay.cc/tv on your phone and type the short code.
  3. Type your Xtream Codes details into the form on your phone and send it.
  4. A few seconds later the list arrives on the TV.

The code is valid for 10 minutes; if it expires, ask the TV for a new one. What you type is sent encrypted and deleted from the server the moment the TV receives it.

What you can do in an Xtream Codes player

  • Live TV sorted into categories and a day-by-day TV guide, with reminders for later programmes.
  • A film and series catalogue with posters, continue watching and the next episode.
  • Several sources: add more than one Xtream Codes account or M3U list; search and favourites work across all of them.
  • Audio and subtitle selection, a parental lock, and 4K and HDR if your device supports them.
  • Catch-up of programmes you missed from the guide, if your provider supports it.

Common mistakes when entering Xtream Codes

  • Missing port. The server address ends with a port number (for example :8080); enter it exactly as your provider wrote it.
  • Upper and lower case. The username and password are case-sensitive. Make sure no space slipped in at the start or end when copying.
  • Retrying the same wrong details. Some providers temporarily block your address after repeated wrong logins. Premium Player does not resend rejected details unchanged; still, check them with your provider first.
  • The login works but a stream will not open. Your subscription may have expired or you may have exceeded the number of connections allowed. Most providers do not allow one account on several devices at once.
  • It will not open in the browser. Some providers do not allow connections from a browser; the web player notices this and tells you, and then you use an app. If your server address starts with http://, the PrePlay HTTP Bridge extension can help you open it in the browser.

If you have no list yet

Take a look first opens a demo list of made-up channels, films and series; you do not need to enter anything. You see the interface and the guide, and add your own details later.
