How to Watch IPTV on Your Phone: Android and iPhone
· 5 min read
You do not need a big setup to watch IPTV on your phone: just the list your provider gave you and a player that opens it in an interface made for touch. This guide covers how to watch IPTV on your phone on Android, iPhone and iPad, using the free Premium Player.
First, the important part: Premium Player is only a player. It contains no channels, films or series and sells none. You get your Xtream Codes details or M3U address from your own IPTV provider.
What you need to watch IPTV on a phone
- The Xtream Codes details your provider gave you (server address, username, password) or an M3U link.
- An Android phone or tablet running Android 6.0 or later, or an iPhone or iPad.
- An internet connection. If you watch over mobile data, remember that IPTV streams use a fair amount of it.
No account is needed; Premium Player is free.
How to watch IPTV on Android
The Android app is made for phones and tablets and designed to be easy to use by touch. For now it is not on Google Play; you download it as an APK from the Android page. Store versions are in preparation.
- On your phone, open the Android page and tap Download; the APK file downloads.
- Open the downloaded file. If asked, allow your browser to install unknown apps.
- Open Premium Player, choose Add Xtream Codes or Add M3U playlist, and enter your provider's details.
When a new version is out, the app tells you and installs the update from within. Download the file only from preplay.cc; copies on other sites may have been tampered with.
Android features worth knowing
- List in portrait, full screen in landscape: hold the phone upright to browse the channel list while watching; turn it sideways and the stream fills the screen.
- Picture-in-picture: when you switch to another app, the stream keeps playing in a small window.
- Mini player: the Minimise button at the top moves the stream to a corner of the screen, so you can browse Home, Live, Films and Series while it plays.
- Search everywhere: a search for channels, programmes, films and series runs across all your sources at once.
- Reminders and sleep timer: set a reminder for an upcoming programme and get a notification when it starts. The sleep timer stops the stream after the time you choose.
How to watch IPTV on iPhone and iPad
The iPhone and iPad app is being prepared for the App Store. Today you can use the same interface in Safari, in the web player that needs no installation. See the iPhone and iPad page.
The app is in TestFlight beta right now, and it works in the car too: it plays video in CarPlay. While the car is parked, live TV, films and series show on the car's screen; once you drive off the picture turns off and the sound carries on. For the picture, the car must support video in CarPlay (iOS 26.4 and later).
- On your iPhone or iPad, open Safari and go to the web player.
- If you like, use Share › Add to Home Screen to get an icon that opens it like an app.
- Choose Add Xtream Codes or Add M3U playlist and enter your provider's details.
Two things to know. Your lists are kept in the browser's own storage, so the web player does not work in a private window. And some providers do not allow connections from a browser; the web player notices this and tells you, and then the App Store version will be the way to go. When the app is out, the button on the iPhone page will take you straight to the App Store.
Is typing the list on a phone a chore?
Instead of typing a long M3U link or Xtream details on a phone, copying them from your provider's email and pasting them is much easier. The link contains your username and password, so be careful when sharing screenshots.
If you also use Premium Player on a TV, you can do it the other way round: on Android TV, Add with phone (QR) shows a QR code and a short code on the TV. You scan the code with your phone (or type it at preplay.cc/tv) and send the details from the phone; the list arrives on the TV.
No list yet?
Take a look first opens a demo list of made-up channels, films and series, so you can see the interface, the TV guide and the player without adding your own list.
If something goes wrong on your phone
- The list will not load: large lists (tens of thousands of channels and films) can take a few minutes. You can keep using the app meanwhile.
- The details are rejected: check that you typed the server address with its port, and mind upper and lower case. Sending the same wrong details again and again can get your address blocked temporarily with some providers.
- A stream will not open: check how many connections your provider allows. Watching with one account on several devices at once is not permitted by most providers.
